Storyboard - Sketching - Adobe Illustrator - Adobe After Effects - Adobe Premeire Pro

 

 

 

"Alfred and the heartsong" was my first animation film made on Borups Højskole 2015, attending the course of Animation. The assignment was to create a short animated love story with an unhappy end. 

 

My process: Writing the story I kept it very very short (1/4 of an A4 page) in order to focus only on the essential core of the narrative. Then i started quickly sketching the character, to have some kind of visual direction in place before drawing the storyboard. Camera settings, perspectives and space was then established in the actual storyboard, which also determined the number of graphics i needed to create in regards to movements and facial expessions. 

Now ready to start the actual animationpart I made the final characters in Illustrator and animated the difefrent scenes in After Effects. The editing and adding of sound was made in Premiere Pro. 

 

Most important learnings: Timing is everything, sound creates life and spend much MORE time designing sound with next film.
